With iOS 11 being the next major software update for iPhones and iPads, you might be wondering if you have the device requirements to install it. Fortunately, we’re here to answer that question.
As it would appear, Apple is officially dropping support for 32-bit devices, which means the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c are out. The following 64-bit Apple devices are supported by iOS 11:
iPhone
- iPhone 5s
- iPhone SE
- iPhone 6
- iPhone 6 Plus
- iPhone 6s
- iPhone 6s Plus
- iPhone 7
- iPhone 7 Plus
iPad
- iPad mini 2
- iPad mini 3
- iPad mini 4
- iPad (5th generation)
- iPad Air
- iPad Air 2
- 9.7-inch iPad Pro
- 10.5-inch iPad Pro
- 12.9-inch iPad Pro (1st generation)
- 12.9-inch iPad Pro (2nd generation)
iPod touch
- iPod touch (6th generation)
That wraps things up for iOS 11 compatibility, and while the 32-bit iPhones might have been removed from the compatibility list, it looks like every other device that could run iOS 10 can now run iOS 11 as well. This is going to be great news for anyone with any 64-bit Apple mobile device who is interested in upgrading when the software update is released this Summer.
iOS 11 is available to developers as a beta as of Monday afternoon, following the WWDC 2017 keynote. The beta is not recommended for average users who rely on their devices for everyday usage, as stability takes a hit and this can impact usage.
